2-8-15 This week I decided to do my science discovery the Grumman F-14 tomcat. The tomcat is a fourth generation, supersonic, twin-jet, two seat, variable-sweep wing fighter aircraft. This plane was developed for the U.S Navy. The tomcat was the first American teen fighter aircraft. The wing sweep can be varied from 20 degrees to 68 degrees. It has a thrust of 20,900 lbs, the F-14 has a top speed of mach 2.34 so its top speed is 1,781.3 mph. The nose of the aircraft is large because it has a two man crew. 712 of these aircraft where built for the navy. It was used as an interceptor and air superiority fighter.

This week I decided to my science discovery on the USS Port Royal (CG-73). This ship is the 27th and final ship to be in its class. She is the second U.S Warship to bear the name of two battles. This ships class is a Ticonderoga class guided missile cruiser. This is what it takes to make this ship go 4 × General Electric LM2500 gas turbine engines, 80,000 shaft horsepower (60,000 kW) 2 × controllable-reversible pitch propellers. This ship was part of the Nimitz battle group and has a top speed of 32.5 knots, 37.4mph.
