The kidneys are two bean-shaped organs that remove excess fluid and waste from our blood. The kidneys also regulate our acid, salt, and potassium content. The kidneys produce hormones that affect the function of other organs, such as the production of red blood cells. The kidneys also remove drugs from the body, and produce an active form of Vitamin D that is essential to strong bones.

This month's next organ is the liver. We all know that the liver is the body's main poison center that's always on the job. Aside from that, the liver produces and secretes bile to allow the human body to absorb fats and fat-soluble vitamins such as Vitamins A ,D, E, and K. The liver also metabolizes and stores carbohydrates, fats sugars and other nutrients that you ingest for energy and brain function. If you eat to many fatty foods such as fast food, an enzyme called alanine aminotransferase (ALT). This enzyme indicates liver damage, which can lead to Type 2 diabetes and Hepatitis C.
