Olivia Postlewait Science Discovery's: Western Horse Tack 4/7/15
This month i am doing my science discovery on western horse tack because i know how to use all western tack known to man. One of the most impotent parts of western tack is the bridal, it is what controls the horse along with your feat, body motions, and eyes. The rains are used to steer the horse, they are tied onto the bit ( the metal piece that is in the horses mouth.) Next, is the saddle, the saddle helps you stay on the horse wile riding. Another piece is a saddle pad witch makes it more convertible for the horse> Next is the Brest color, also called the brest plate. It helps your saddle stay one wile riding one steep hills and will riding fast. Next is the tie down, it is used to keep the horses head down wile riding so the horse can be controlled better. Another piece of western tack is a crupper, it is used one trail rides to keep the saddle from sliding up wile going down hills. The crupper attaches from the back of the saddle to the tail. Another is leg boots, These boots are used in almost everything to protect the horses legs. Another is Bell boots, they are used one the lowest part of the leg next to the foot to support and protect just like leg boots. two things that work together are the girth( witch is used right behind the front legs) that keeps the saddle in place, another thing that works with the girth is the flank girth. the flank girth in used to help the saddle from sliding back about a foot back from the girth. only the bridal, saddle and girth are needed to ride a horse but it will be much safer and help if you have the others. i have a neon pink biothane ( rubber feeling material ) bridal, brest color, and tie down. I also have pink professionals choice legacy ( the name of my leg boots) leg boots, and pink rubber bell boots. I also have The Taxes Star tack set witch is mad of leather and consists of a tie down, brest collar, and a bridal. and a "best ever" saddle pad. Another thing i have is a cheetah print pair of leg boots. And of course, 5 western saddles and a hole bunch of other tack.

The Tennessee Walking horse is a wonderful, natural gated horse breed. People admired its natural gate and wondered how much higher they could make the horses feet go with a special trick. People started to put painful shoes on the horses that have nail sticking into there feet to make them lift there feet higher so there is less pain. Then they have weight to make them drop there foot , and they just keep repeating it. Then some people that it wasn't enough so they started putting diesel fuel or careseen on the horses ankle to make it burn and then they put chains around there ankle to make it scratch it every time they move there feet. They do this to make money, win shows, and get fame. True horse people don't think they are cool, they think its cruel. After a wile the horses die from pain, or get sold for lots of money and get bruises on there heels, if people don't stop this the breed will vanish.
