Since this is so close to Christmas I decided I would do a Christmas discovery. This time on why do the blinker bulbs on the Christmas lights make the lights blink? Well after some research I found that inside the little light you replace on your strand to make them blink there is a delay. This delay makes it so when you plug in the lights the power doesn't go through it for about a second. After that it does. This is what makes lights blink!

This week I decided to make a science discovery. Considering Christmas is on its way I started thinking about christmasy things. Then I started thinking about Christmas trees. They don't lose their needles in the winter and I wanted to figure out why. After researching this I came to a conclusion. This conclusion was that for one reason their needles take up a lot LESS water than a normal leaf does so it is easier for the tree to maintain them with still getting nutrients to itself. Another reason is because the pine needles have a sort of "Anti-Freeze" chemical that helps the ice crystals not get inside the needle and kill it.
In conclusion this is my science discovery for this week.
