Ethiopia: Ethiopia is accualy a nice place besides water sources being very rare. The land area is approximantly 1,104,300sgkm 1,000,000 is land, and 104,300 is water, 2,896 of land is farming land/ irrigated land, 122 cu km is renewable water sources. This country is slightly twice the size of Texas. On a map Ethiopia is located, 800 nouth from the equater and 3,800 east. The population is 93,877,025 (checked in July 2013). The death rate is 8.25 /1,000 poulation and the birth rate is 37.66 /1,000 population ( also checked in 2013). The climate is tropical monsoon. The terrian is made up of high plateaus, a central montian range, and a great rift valleys.
Some problems with Ethiopia: Ethiopia's fresh water withdrawal is about 5.56 cu km/yr 13% is domestic 1% idustrial and 86% is agriculture. Each person gets 80.5 cu m/yr (2005). Most peopl in this poor country digs wells or goes and scoops water out of puddles or tiny pond. This is risky because only in cities only 96.6% of the population had good water and 3.4% of the cities population had bad. But for the country side of Ethiopia they only had 34.3% of good water and 60.7% of bad. That also means the sanatation is not so pleasent. The cities have 27.3% of good sanatation, and 72.7% of bad. While the country side has 19.4% of good and 80.6% bad. (YUCK!)
Since there is not alot of good water resources the is many waterborn and water contact diseases. Such as Bacterial Protozel Diarrhea, Hepatitis A, and Typiod Fever and Schistosomiasis. It is hard to get medicine when their daily wage is only 2$ dollars and the usa wage is 8.45$ an hour.
Possible water crisis causes in Ethiopia: There are only two main natureal disasters, floods and droughts. Droughts cause the land too get to dry so the water dries up quickly. If the groud is too dry, when it rains, the areas flood, becuase, the ground can't soak up the water quick enough. Becuase of this, Ethiopia has physical and economical water scarcity. Since they don't have alot of money they can't buy infrastructure for water.
What is being done about the problem: There are some things that are being done to help this country, like, the Rain Water Harvest (R.W.H). (R.W.H) is a company that tries to reuse their rainwater to try to meet water needs. Another is Sub- Saharan. This group of people tries to help give water and help sanatation for the people of Ethiopia.
Anything eles: There is not much we can do for this country. What we can do is, we can learn more about water crisis and the problems that are caused by it. If we do this we can potentional save Ethiopia and the other contreis that have water scarceitiy.
