My first February discovery is about Porcupines. Porcupines are small animals that attack with their sharp quills for protection. To attack, they turn backwards, aim and fire. A wild Porcupine's lifespan is 5-7 years. An average adult Porcupine weighs between 12-35 pounds. Porcupines are the third largest rodents. These animals leaves, herbs, twigs and green plants. In the winter it may eat bark. The North American porcupine often climbs trees to find food. Porcupines are excellent climbers and spend most of their time in trees.

My second science discovery is about hammerhead sharks. Hammerhead sharks are named for the unusual structure of their heads which are flattened and extended into a "hammer" shape.Hammerhead sharks are known to eat a large range of prey including fish, squid, octopus, and other sharks. These sharks are often found swimming along the bottom of the ocean, stalking their prey. Also, the shape of the hammerhead's head helps them to find food.
