Haiti's Geography
Haiti is located in the North Atlantic Ocean near the equator, southeast of Cuba. Haiti's land bounderies borders the Dominican Republic. Haiti's total area is about 27,750 sq. km. The area covered by land is 27,560 sq. km. or 99%. The area covered by water is 190 sq. km. or 1%. Haiti's climate is tropical. The terrain is mostly rough and mountanious. In Haiti they have floods, hurricans, droughts, and earthquakes. About 36%(9,921 sq. km.) of the land is arable land of that arable land 970 sq. km. needs to be irrigated for the crops. The total amount of renewable water resources is 14.03 cubic km. The percent of that renewable water resources is 14.03%. There is a 1.2% of withdraw from the water. The freshwater withdraw is 1.2 cubic km. Haiti's total population is about 10 million people. 80% of Haitians live in poverty. About 4,000 children in Haiti die everyday from waterborne diseases. About 2 million people die each year from Diarrhoeal diseases.

The Water Crisis in Haiti
The causes of the water crisis are droughts, deforestation, soil erosion, and using water for wheat, rice, and beef. The growing population of Haitians caused an increase of demands for water. Santitation mease to keep clean or disinfecting. Haiti has a physical water scarcity because they don't have enough water to keep them sanitized or to keep them hydrated, therefore 1.1 billion people live without clean drinking water. Also 2.6 billion people lack adequate santitation water. In 2009 the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting announced its commitment to reach 50,000 Haitians with clean water and sanitation by June 2014, so they are still working to help Haiti meet their needs. They are also trying to educate Haiti's communities about how to stay santized. They are trying to promote integrated water resources management at the local level with focus on maintaining the quantity and quality of drinking water.
