The Leafy Seadragon is named after dragons of Chinese mythology. They resemble pieces of seaweed as they float around in seaweed-filled water. Which is it's camouflage. Only the movement of its fins would make its presence known. Like the seahorse the male carries the eggs for about eight weeks. They have no teeth or stomach and they feed on mysidopsis shrimp. Leafy Seadragons are protected by the South Australian government.
