This week my science discovery is on the black bear. The color of the black bear is obviously black. The black bear roams most of North America. In Pennsylvania it is popular to hunt black bear. In the winter the black bear goes to sleep for the whole winter otherwise known as hibernation. The black bear is a medium sized bear native to North America. This week my science discovery is on the raccoon. The average life span of the raccoon in the wild is 2 to 3 years. The raccoon is a omnivore. The raccoon may inhabit a tree hole, a fallen log, or somebodies attic. Raccoons can climb trees very very well. The raccoon can run up to 15 miles per hour. This week my science discovery is on the porcupine. Porcupine in latin means quill pigs. A porcupine is a mammal and a herbivore. A herbivore is a animal that only eats plant like food. Porcupines can climb trees. Porcupines have sharp needle like things on their back , and if you get to close or they feel threatened they will shoot them at you.
