This week for my science discovery I chose to research, zebras. A zebras diet mainly consists of, grass, shrubs, herbs, twigs, leaves, and bark. Eating those kinds of foods, make zebra's herbivorous. Zebra's are mainly found in savannas from Sudan to Northern Zimbabwe in Eastern Africa. There are only about 2,500 Grey zebra's living today. And about 600-700 cave mountain zebras remaining today. Mating season for zebra's is al year round. The litter size is 1 foal. A foal is a young horse or a horse related animal. Don't be alarmed if you see a zebra standing up all the time. Very seldom do zebra's sit down, if they ever even sit! Zebra's even stand up while they are sleeping! Could you imagine standing all through the night? Every zebra has its' own pattern of unique stripes.

This week for my science discovery I chose to research, deer ticks. The average life span of a deer tick in the wild is about 2 years. The deer tick is the only transmitter of Lyme disease. Deer ticks are mostly found in the Northeast. To put the size of a tick in prospective, it is about the size of a sesame seed. The deer tick goes through 4 stages in life. They consist of, egg, then larva, next nymph, and finally, an adult. Ticks only eat three times in their whole life. Once to molt from larva to nymph. Then to, go from nymph to adult. And again as an adult to lay eggs. tick.jpg
