This week's science discovery is going to be about the Hermit Crab. I have a hermit crab and I think that they're pretty cool. Hermit crabs are crabs that live in shells. A fun thing that people do with there hermit crab's shell is painting them. Hermit crabs are a somewhat common pet. Most live in small cages or plastic bins with pebbles or sand at the bottom. Hermit crabs range in size and shape and they are pretty amusing to watch. Hermit crabs are good pets for children because they require little care. All you need to do to care for a hermit crab is (1. keep the sponge used for moisture wet everyday. 2. keep your water dish/bowl filled with water and hermit crab food. 3. clean your hermit crab's cage about once a week to clean out waste and food dropped in bottom.) Those are the only things you have to do to take care of your hermit crab. Hermit crabs are fascinating to me because they are different and interesting looking. Most hermit crab's bodies are either deep red or brown and they have little hairs on there legs. Hermit crabs have pinchers to protect themselves and to break larger pieces of food. The main thing a hermit crab will do to protect themselves is tucking into there shell. Hermit crabs are very interesting creatures.

This week's scientific discovery is on the Tarantula. Tarantulas are spiders that are commonly black and brown. Tarantulas are common in the jungles and rainforests in south and Central America. Most species of Tarantulas are not dangerous to humans, but can sometimes get a good scare out of people. Tarantulas can range in size from the size of a fingernail to the size of a dinner plate when the legs are fully extended. Tarantulas natural habitats include grasslands and savannas. When a Tarantula is about to bite, it will lift it's front legs and extend their fangs.

This week's scientific discovery is on ice and how it forms. Ice is frozen water. Ice can be slippery because of the pressure of an object coming into contact with the ice. Ice is forms at a chilled temperature of 32 degrees farenheit.
Snow forms when tiny water droplets in the clouds freeze (at 0 degrees). If you look at an ordinary ice cube made in a freezer you might see white in the center of it. This is a result of tiny air bubbles. In the winter, you might see icicles forming on the side of a house. This is a result of water dripping from the house and freezing. We see ice a lot.
