Oak Trees 10/7/14

This week I will be doing my science discovery on the Oak Tree. In case you did not know what an Oak Tree is it is a shrub in the Genus Quercus of the beech family Fagaceae, having approximately 600 extant species. The name oak could also appear in the names of species in related genera notably Lithocarpus. Oaks are found all over the world, it usually depends what kind it is though. For example the White Oak is found throughout Asia, North America, and Europe. This has been my science discovery for this week.

The Cactus 10/14/14

Today I will be doing my discovery on the cactus. The cactus is a member of the plant family Cactaceae within the order Caryophyllales. Almost all cacti are succulents.

Cactus's are found in very dry areas which might be known as deserts. The giant saguaro grows in the Sonoran Desert. This is the second largest desert in North America covering parts of California and Arizona and stretching over the border to Mexico. This has been my science discovery.

Pine Trees 10/20/14

This week I will be doing my science discovery on the pine tree. Pines are conifer trees in the genus Pinus, in the family Pinaceae. They are the only genus in the subfamily Pinoideae. Counting varieties and subspecies the, the plant list of the Royal Botanical Gardens, Kew and Missouri Botanical Garden accwpts 175 names of pines as current. Together with some thirty or forty unresolved and many more synonyms or misapplied.

Ohio's State Animal 1027/14

For this weeks science discovery I will be doing my research on Ohio's state animal. Ohio's state animal is the exact same as Pennsylvania's stat animal, the White Tailed Deer. This deer is a medium sized weighing 100 - 180 pounds. This deer is native to the USA, Canada, Mexico, central America, and South America. This deer has been introduced to New Zealand, Cuba, Jamaica, Hispaniola, Puerto Rico, and many more states and countries. Whit tailed deers have strong enough back legs in which if they kick someone their ribs can be broke, that is also how they defend themselves. This has been my science discovery.
