Cockroaches can eat just about anything, and can survive without food for long periods of time. I find this very odd because what if they ate something that was contaminated with nuclear waste or something crazy like that. This might sound crazy but did you know that cockroaches like to be touched? I know right. You cant tell me that you know this without looking it up for proof. Cockroaches can live for weeks without their heads. This isn't very good because if you stomp on a cockroaches head, it will still be alive!

My science discovery this week is on solar energy. I did my science discovery on solar energy this week because in history we were talking about green energy and I did my project on solar panels heating a room. Solar energy is a very interesting subject to me because it comes from the sun! Here are some interesting facts about solar energy. The first interesting fact about solar energy is that solar energy is the reason are all alive today; it is the main source of energy for all life forms including humans! Another interesting fact on solar energy is that solar power is one of very few sources of energy that you do not have to pay for! The most interesting fact i have for you about solar energy is that, although the sun is over 90 million miles from the Earth,it takes less than 10 minutes for light to travel all the way from the sun to the Earth, that is some crazy speed!

My science discovery this week is on mongooses. Mongooses are primarily found in Africa, their range covering most of the continent. Some types or species of mongoose live in the southern part of Asia. Mongoose are mammals that are mostly terrestrial, but they are semi aquatic. Mongoose range in the size anywhere from 7'' to 24'' long. Mongoose normally have brown or gray grizzled fur, most species sport a striped coat or ringed tail. Mongoose live in burrows and feed on small animals such as rodents, birds, reptiles, frogs, insects, and worms. Some species of mongoose will attack venomous snakes such as cobras.

Tailor Bird
Tailor Bird

My science discovery this week is on the tailorbird. I chose to do the tailorbird as my science discovery because over the past week I read Rikki - Tikki - Tavi. Tailorbirds are strong singers, they also constantly shift there perch. Tailorbirds eat insects, small fruits, berries, and sip on some nectar. Tailorbirds are commonly found in pairs. Tailorbirds are very famous in India, that explains why a tailorbird would be in the story Rikki - Tikki - Tavi! The tailorbird has a distinctive attribute, their tails usually stick strait up. Thanks for reading my science discovery this week!
