This week I decided to do my scientific discovery Acorn. Before you ask why I did my discovery on the Acorn. Well you see i have a oak tree behind my house, when the Acorns fall it hits my roof which is made out of tin sheets and sounds like a gun. The scientific name for Acorn is Balanus Glandula. The Acorn also called the oak nut, grows on Oak trees. The Acorn usually contains of one seed it rarely contains two. The Acorn is about 8-4 cm broad, The seed is enclosed in a tough leathery shell. Acorns take between 6-24 months to mature, The mature shells are usually brown and the un-mature shells are green. So that was my scientific discovery for this weekend.

I decided to do my scientific discovery on the Mosquito. The scientific name for the Mosquito is Culicdae. There are over eighty types of Mosquito`s in Florida thirty-three, types of species can bite humans and livestock. You know how everyone says why where mosquito`s created. Mosquito`s where created so bats have a main source of food. Mosquito`s carry deadly diseases to human and livestock. Some of these diseases are Malaria Yellow-Fever Filariasis. There are many other diseases carried in Mosquito`s too. If these diseases are not treated they can cause death. Female Mosquito`s are the only Mosquito's that will bite humans and livestock, Male Mosquito`s feed on nectar from flowers.

Mosquito`s are considered to be in the fly family, when Mosquito`s bite humans it usually causes red bumps to appear. Mosquito`s represent Crane Flies which I think is weird because Crane Flies are in the Tipulidae Family. Adult Mosquito`s can also be called Imago, for most species it usually takes a month and ten days for the eggs to hatch. The Mosquito has two part on it`s body used for piercing the skin. These blades are called the Mandibles and Maxillae.
