Pennsylvania's state animal is the white-tail deer also known as the odocoileus virginias. This deer is known to show the underside of its tail, which is white when running or scared. It's a medium sized mammal that can run up to speeds such as 35 MPH. They can also jump fence up to nine feet tall! Their main defense mechanism is to use their hooves to kick predators. Bucks sometimes use their antlers if the antlers are strong enough and big enough. This has been my science discovery for this week.

" Pennsylvania's State Flower"
This week I did my science discovery on Pennsylvania's state flower. The state flower is commonly called the mountain-laurel, but the real scientific name is kalmia latofia. This species of flowering plant is in the blue-berry family. It is also the state flower of Connecticut. This flower ranges from all the way up north to Main to down south to Louisiana. This flower is usually 3-9 meters tall and 1-4 centimeters wide. All parts of the plant is poisonous, so don't touch it..... or eat it! This has been my discovery on the mountain-laurel.
This week I will be doing my research on the most venomous snake in the world. This snake is called the Belchers Sea Snake. This snakes poison is so strong that just a few milligrams of its poison can kill 1,000 people! Fisherman are usually the victims of this deadly snake when they are pulling in their nets that's when they get bit. They are found throughout the waters of South East Asia and Northern Australia. This has been my science discovery.
