Over this weekend I was asked to make a scientific discovery. As I was looking around outside to maybe see something I could learn more about I realized something. Leaves fall off of the tree's in the autumn, but why? Many people see leaves scattered about from the trees in the woods, or even your backyard! The thing is, most people don't know why the fall off. I decided to find out. After a bit of research I found out that they fall off because the tree stops giving nutrients to the leaves. They do this because the tree needs to conserve water and food to survive the long winter. After the leaves fall off it seals where it fell off so no weather can get into the tree and harm it. I think that this is very smart for the tree because it really benefits from it. It also helps some animals because the leaves can act as a sort of camouflage.
In conclusion this is my science discovery for this weekend! I learned a lot from researching this and I hope you did too!
For my science discovery this weekend I discovered something about horses. This thing I discovered is that horses will stand in the opposite direction of each other right next to each other. I found out that the reason they do this is because when they have flies on them when they move their tails it will scare the flies away from the other horse. In my opinion I think that is a very productive technique because each horse is benefiting from each other.
In conclusion my science discovery this weekend was about horses. I learned a lot when finding this out.
For my science discovery I discovered something about hickory nuts. I found that they have not just one but two shells. When most people find a hickory nut in the woods the outer shell has already been removed by an animal. This outer shell is blackish greenish.
In conclusion this is my discovery for this weekend.
Over the labor day weekend I made a scientific discovery. My discovery is that chickens prefer to lay eggs in enclosed areas rather than out in the open. I found that the reason for them to do this is because they feel safer in an enclosed area/ they also do this because they prefer to be alone when they lay their eggs.
