My science discovery for this week is mac and cheese on how long it takes for water to boil so that i can make mac and cheese. For my experiment i used a medium sized pot. I used cold water and put it on the stove and had the fire of the stove on the number 7 which is a pretty high number on the stove i was using. It took 6:30 seconds for the cold water to start boiling. I also did an experiment on how long it would take hot water to boil. It took 4:45 seconds for the hot water to boil. After all the experiments i had mac and cheese.
My science discovery this week is on grasshoppers and some interesting facts about them! Did you know that grasshoppers have ears on their bellies? Well the ears are on the abdomen and are tucked under the wings. Also did you know that grasshoppers lived long before dinosaurs? The ancestors of our modern day grasshoppers evolved well over 200 million years ago. Grasshoppers sometimes "spit" brown liquid to defend themselves, I find this very relieving because me and my friends and I always thought it was poop. The last interesting fact I have on grasshoppers is that grasshoppers make music by stridulating and crepitating. That sounds complicated but it really just means rub their hind leg against their fore wing.
My science discovery this week is on cherry trees and some interesting facts about them. Cherry trees are some of the most popular landscape trees because of their beautiful spring flowers, and they are really awesome trees to see when you’re driving on a long trip. Some types of cherry trees are considered sterile as they do not produce any fruit. Cherry trees grow wild in many countries and they spread around vastly through them.
