Does someone wearing hairspray attract more insects than someone who is not?

INCLUDE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN:
[remember it must be a controlled experiment]
1. A hypothesis
2. Explain how to set up the experiment:
  • brainstorm a list of all the variables that must be kept constant during the experiment
  • include identification of the independent variable
  • the dependent variable
  • identify the control group
  • identify the experimental group(s)
3. Provide enough details for someone else to set up your experiment

Hypothises-People wairing hairspray repel insects

Variables-

  1. type of hairspray
  2. type of insects
  3. color of hair
  4. temperature of room
  5. time of day
  6. nocturnal or dayturnal
  7. amount of hairspray
  8. gender of person/insect
  9. age of insects
  10. age of person
  11. race of person
  12. blood type

Independent Veriable-Hairspray

Dependent Variable-Are the Insects Repelled

Control group-person w/ out hairspray

Experiremental groups-people with hairspray

Steps to conduct expiriment

  1. Put Person in an Large Airtight Room (control group)
  2. Let Bugs in Room
  3. See if Bugs are Atracted and/or Repelled
