Does the frequency at which crickets chirp change with environmental temperature?

1. A hypothesis : Crikets chirps change with the enviromental temputure.

2. Explain how to set up the experiment:

  • Brainstorm a list of all the variables that must be kept constant during the experiment: The same species of crickets, where at the crickets are kept, wether or not it's the same time of day, the same area, the same gender, for Group A have the same temperature, their health

  • Include identification of the independent variable: Where the crickets are.

  • The dependent variable: The crickets chirp when the enviromental temperature is changing.

  • Identify the control group: Group A

  • Identify the experimental group(s): Group B

3. Provide enough details for someone else to set up your experiment:

First of all you would need at least 50 crickets and you could divide them into two groups of 25. One group (Group A) would stay at a constant rate of enviromental temperature, while the other group (Group B) would have the enviromental temperature change. Group A would stay in a greenhouse with the temperature staying the same, while Group B would be outside.
