Does someone wearing hairspray attract more insects than someone who is not?

INCLUDE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN:
[remember it must be a controlled experiment]
1. A hypothesis? A person who is wearing hairspray would attract less insects than someone who is not wearing hairspray.
2. Explain how to set up the experiment:
  • brainstorm a list of all the variables that must be kept constant during the experiment. Time of day, kind of hairspray, the kind of climate, if it rained lately or not, how much hairspray the person uses, same blood type, how warm it is outside, same age of people, same size of insect, same type of insects.
  • include identification of the independent variable. Hairspray.
  • the dependent variable. How many insects are attracted to the hairspray.
  • identify the control group. Group with no hairspray.
  • identify the experimental group(s). Group with hairspray on.
3. Provide enough details for someone else to set up your experiment.
  • Have 10 people in two groups.
  • Make sure you put the same amount of hairspray on each person in one group and its the same type of hairspray, and leave the other group with no hairspray.
  • Make sure you do the experiment in the morning.
  • Make sure you do the experiment when it is warm.
  • Make sure the people you are using in the experiment are around the same age.
  • Make sure the climate is the same and if it changes then the experiment will have to be done a different time.
