Do minor wounds (cuts, abrasions) heal faster with or without a bandage?

INCLUDE ALL OF THE FOLLOWING WITH YOUR EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN:
[remember it must be a controlled experiment]
1. A hypothesis
2. Explain how to set up the experiment:
  • brainstorm a list of all the variables that must be kept constant during the experiment
  • include identification of the independent variable
  • the dependent variable
  • identify the control group
  • identify the experimental group(s)
3. Provide enough details for someone else to set up your experiment

Hypothesis: Minor wounds, cuts, or abrasions heal faster without bandages.

(3.) Experiment: I would set up my experiment by having 2 groups of 5 people with cuts. The people would get the cuts by falling off of a bike, and a scraping their skin. Group A will have bandages on their cuts, and this group willl be the experimental group. Group B will be the group without the bandages, and this group will be the control group.

Variables kept constant: Some variable that should be kept constant is, what brand that the bandage is, when the bandage was put on, how big the cut is, how long ago the skin was cut, is there medicine in the bandage, how tight the bandage was put on, and how deep the cut is.

Independent Variable: The independent variable would be the 5 people that have a bandage on their cut.

Dependent Variable: The dependent variable is the bandage that is being put onto the cut.
