Bandage or No Bandage?

Do minor wounds (cuts, abrasions) heal faster with or without a bandage?

1. A hypothesis: Cuts with bandages will heal faster than cuts without bandages.
2. Variables that must be kept constant during the experiment:
  • bandage size
  • bandage color
  • bandage shape
  • bandage brand
  • waterproof bandages
  • age of people
  • health of people
  • size of cut
  • time cut was acquired
3. Independent Variable:The bandages.
4. Dependent Variable:How fast the cut heals.
5. Control Group:Group A, without bandages.
6. Experimental Group(s):Group B, with bandages.
7. How to set up your experiment:

One day I had fell and scraped my knee. I put a bandage on my cut. I asked my mom if I really needed to keep the bandage on for my cut to heal quickly, but she did not know. So I gathered up about 6 of my friends. I told them that a bandage helps heal cuts faster. To test this, I and my friends played outside until we all had at least one cut. I put my friends into 2 groups of 3. One group put bandages on their cuts, I called this Group A. The second group did not put bandages on their cuts, I called them Group B. The bandages were all the same size, same color, same shape, same brand, and they were all waterproof, as well. After about three days, I gathered all my friends together again to examine their cuts.
