For my science discovery I decided to do some research on a bug like creature. It is called a water bear. This creature is the only known living organism to survive space. This bug is so small you cant see it you need a microscope to see it.It eats leaves and sometimes lives on them. They mainly live in water (hense the name water bear) like rivers and streams. Now for some history the water bear is from Mars brought back by on a space mission by someone eager to explore its life. Its skin contains chitin [the stuff that makes exoskelatons hard] so they have to moult as they grow. The way it got its name is because of its walk in a bear like walk.Fun fact they are eutulic organisms meaning they all have the same amount of cells. They can survive almost anything even temperatures up to as high as 150°C and as low as -200°C.They can even survive radiation up to 5,000 Gy (5 to 10 would kill humans) amazing right! That concludes my science discovery on water bears.
This week I saw a tree and decided to do my science discovery on that.It was rubber. It was white and thick. It was a birch tree. Here is a fact they used to use these trees to make boats for the wars. That concludes my science discovery on birch tees.
9/30/2014 This week for my science discovery I found a flower with orange fluffy pedals. I have not yet figured out what it is. All I know is that it has a long thick stem and that it was very bright. I tried to ask my mom and dad but they didnt know either. But my mom did tell me she thinks the name starts with citris because of its orange citris like color. I am going to investigate more into it but for now i will leave it at that. That is my science discovery.
